The inspiration for Ask A Mainer came from Crystal's father and from her neighbors. When Martin Marietta, the area's largest employer at the time, closed its doors, Crystal's father put up a sign in front of their house. On it was a list of about 6 services he could offer from carpentry, to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc. Wesley was already well known for his talents, his honesty, and his work ethic. The phone started ringing and thus began Daggett Builders, Inc. Over the years, Chris and Crystal developed a long list of contacts through Daggett Builders and also became friendly with many of the area's visitors and new comers. At social gatherings people would exclaim, You're from Maine?!!! A genuine local?!!!! and then proceed to pepper them with questions.

Crystal returned home from having tea with a neighbor who, despite having lived here for years, did not know who to turn to for reliable service and sought her out for advice. She said to Chris, "Everyone seems to want to Ask A Mainer they can trust for advice, pet & plant care, looking after their property, etc. Clients we worked for years ago still ask us to perform these and other services because they feel comfortable with us. Some of our wealthier clients have depended on us to do a long list of unusual things, from reframing and relocating priceless paintings before a party to delivering the correct size bottle of designer water to a dock at 7am on a Sunday morning. We're used to juggling, scheduling, and basically "making it happen". Why not turn this into a side business and connect busy people in need of services with the hardworking salt of the earth people we know and trust?"

Chris loved the idea, the neighbor who had asked Crystal over for tea and advice said You're hired. I'm thrilled! and thus began Ask A Mainer.
